Bessy and Edgar's Story
Bessy is my proud beautiful brown bunny . . . she had never seen another rabbit since she left her mother to live a sad lonely life for three years. All that changes the day she joined our family. From the start she loved us and life was better than she ever thought it could be. Yet something was missing. I could tell she was lonesome when we weren't with her.
Enter Edgar…
Edgar is my proud beautiful white bunny…he lived at the shelter for two years known as Peter. Whenever someone showed an interest in adopting him they would decide on another rabbit. Edgar thought he would never find a home. Each time I worked at the shelter I felt his sadness, it was so easy to fall in love with him. I thought Bessy could fall in love with him too.
My decision…he would join our family. Cindy (our expert rabbit bonder) worked on the bonding at her home; it was a successful bonding with out any problems. One week later the happy couple was home. Bessy knew he was a little nervous, with love and patience she made him feel safe.
Days and weeks fly by, the change in Edgar was a joy to see. He no longer had that sad look, no longer sits facing the wall like he did before at the shelter.
Now he runs, hops and jumps with Bessy. They cuddle together, groom each other, a lot of licking faces and big ears go on. They play, snack, and snooze together. When I call "treat", they both run to me, lately I'm happy to say, shy Edgar gets there first.
Their life is all a bunny could wish for, a loving home and each other. When I say "good night bunnies" before going to bed, I know they're okay and not lonely during the night, yes life is good!
Bonding is without a doubt a positive experience for most rabbits.
A few words about my bonding with Edgar and Bessy. The lessons I've learned from my valuable teachers is powerful. They have shown me the importance of respect, kindness, compassion and acceptance in relationships. They have touched my life in ways that are hard to explain.
You can't spend time with rabbits and fell stressed, they emanate peace and fill me with it…I bow to them.
Don't believe for a moment that they are the fortunate ones, because I am. Bessy and Edgar are my treasures, my partners for life. I love them.
Proud to be their guardian.
Moyra, Mom.
