HIKING WITH HOOPS

Hello Denise and those of you at the animal shelter,
I wanted to share our adoption story with you. My fiancé Geoff and I moved to Laguna Hills from Santa Barbara in February. We had always wanted to adopt a dog together but never had a big enough place for one. Once were all settled into our new house adopting a dog was priority number one. We had heard about the San Clemente shelter from a friend who grew up down here so we decided to check it out. We visited the shelter a few times but could not seem to find a dog that was a good fit for us.  On our last visit Denise introduced us to Munyo. He had tons of energy and was so smart and playful that we immediately fell in love with him. A few days later we took him home.

We decided to call him Hoops because both Geoff and I love basketball and because his jumping ability is very impressive. We are certain he can dunk! Hoops took to us and our house very quickly. His first night he seemed comfortable, happy and right at home. He bonded with us right away and after a few days we knew we had a new best friend.

I work from our house so my days are spent hanging out with Hoops. He loves going on long walks, runs,  hikes and to the Laguna Beach dog park where he has made many friends. He keeps Geoff and I quite active and his energy seems to never end! He has been wonderful with our neighbor’s dogs as well as any dogs he comes in contact with. My sister has three kids, the youngest of them is only 2 ½. Hoops is amazing with all of them and they love to give him treats and take him on walks. He even went swimming with them a few times!

We still cannot understand why someone would ever give up such a fabulous pet but we are glad they did. Hoops has made moving to a new city much easier and has filled our days with happiness.
